About Help Miami Cats
Our History
Help Miami Cats is a volunteer-led rescue founded by Claudia Romani and sustained by daily commitment, consistency, and compassion.
We operate a dedicated cat room that houses and cares for over 40 rescued cats at a time — a space made possible through the generosity of Steve Sachs. Because of that support, dozens of cats have a safe environment to rest, recover, and wait for permanent homes.
Beyond the cat room, more than 30 community cats are fed and monitored twice a day, every single day — rain or shine. This is quiet, steady work that happens consistently behind the scenes.
Help Miami Cats is powered by volunteers who show up. Among them are Officers Michelle Taylor and Nelly Varela, whose ongoing hands-on daily involvement helps sustain the daily operations that keep everything moving.
At its core, this is about responsibility — to the animals, to the community, and to the promise that they will not be forgotten.
